Steel Frame Construction
"Steeling" a march on the market.............
I am no stranger to steel frame construction in the commercial
sector. It is the hallmark of a fast precisely engineered building. Despite all
the arguments against which have deterred us from choosing this option in the
residential sector before – mainly the cost – we chose this form of
construction for St George’s House in Bath.
Why?
It was erected by steel specialists who have a great respect
for Health and Safety.
The frame was manufactured off site – giving us time to deal
with services diversions and foundations on site.
It is lighter than concrete frame – meaning less intrusive
foundations.
It is much more flexible than concrete frame – giving future
flexibility.
It is sustainable – 95% of the steel used in construction
can be recycled.
Thanks to robust detail design steel frame buildings
comfortably satisfy acoustic requirements for residential buildings.
But most of all we chose this option because it’s fast and,
as you can see from the progress photos, St. George’s House is picking up speed
and rapidly becoming and enhancement to the Bath Cityscape!
